Invasion of privacy or just a job?
The Iggy vs paparazzi controversy is a very complicated topic because both sides prove very good points. Paparazzi are in the wrong when it comes to the privacy aspect of this whole job. It is 100% an invasion of privacy to follow people, wait for them outside their cars and even homes and go to the extremes they do just to snap a couple pictures. To me, I see paparazzi as disgusting. I think that it's not a profession and should be illegal because it's stepping over a line. In the video of Iggy Azalea, she does fight back by pushing her shopping cart into the man and her friend does spit on him as well. In this situation both people are in the wrong and they are on even grounds. Iggy does make good points by saying that she's just trying to shop in peace and shouldn't be bothered, etc, etc. BUT, the paparazzo states that he was assaulted which he was and that she's setting herself up for this by leading the life she does. Iggy lives in Los Angeles with hundreds of other celebrities and it's just life to have people photograph celebrities. She does have options such as moving or never make another song, letting her fame die down and everything'll be normal without interruptions and paparazzi being such nuisances. Magazines, news websites, news papers, etc are all the media and need someone to find information for them which is where the paparazzi comes into play. This is a huge franchise and isn't really something that can just end like that. The paparazzi are making a living and get paid for their photographs, we get that. It's a job, and people need money but there comes a point when it's a bit of a push and just inappropriate and beyond ignorant. Another example of a paparazzi mess is with Kanye West. He arrived to an airport and there were paparazzi awaiting his arrival. one in particular was a TMZ reporter who was complimenting Kanye and telling him how much he loves his music. "Don't talk ... don't talk to me ... I don't wan't to hear paparazzi talk to me or anybody I know ... and tell everybody never talk to anyone that anyone knows ... don't talk to themselves .. DON'T TALK EVER AGAIN." Mr. West said. The paparazzi dared to speak again and spoke about a new album with Jay-Z sequel and that's when Kanye pounced at him, grabbing his camera strap and man-handling the camera. (R=This is ironic because in 2008, West was arrested for destroying their camera equipment in the exact same airport.) In this case, the celeb was WAY out of line. He physically harassed a person along with their equipment. We get it, he's famous with money and does't know the value of a good camera seeing as he'd be willing to destroy it in a split second. I think, who's right and who's wrong depends on the situation. In Iggy's instance, both people made very good points and were both equally wrong and right but with Kanye West, he was the one who went overboard. A line of appropriate and inappropriate does exist and can easily be crossed when in an enraged mindset but there's no solid answer to who crosses it and who's safe. It depends on the situation, people involved and the words exchanged.
